A model for outcomes Print E-mail

Many of us are dissatisfied with the way things are, but very few give a serious thought to what we would like instead, - how we would like life to be.

The model for outcomes is an aid to analyze both the present and the desired situation. The analysis will help you to name to the elements which describe the two situations, to identify the obstacles in your way, and to find the resources which will help you. It is a method of clarifying things, to bring them up in your consciousness, and it is also a way to program the new outcome into your brain.

The model is excellent both for company- and individual outcomes.

Outcome. The most important step for you is the decision to do something about your situation. Then make a description of your outcome, the way you would like things to be.  Try several outcomes. Which one has the greatest appeal? As long as you are testing different outcomes, stay dissociated, i.e. see yourself in the situation from the outside. When you find something you like, step into the situation, associate, in order to find out how you like it there.

The outcome criteria are important:

Positively defined; because your brain does not understand the word “not”.

Sensory based, because when you see, hear and feel the outcome, it is programmed into your unconsciousness. Also, the difference in the way you experience your present state and your future state will motivate you in the direction of your outcome. When you arrive, you will recognise the outcome situation, because you have been there once before, in your imagination.

Congruence is a state of internal agreement, there is no hesitation, and no warnings from an inner voice, all your inner parts are with you. Congruence is important; otherwise you will be hindered by forces in yourself.

There might be advantages with the way things are, you will want to bring these with you. Of course, you new outcome must be ecological, i.e. not be detrimental to other peoples interests. Remember: Win-win.

Status analysis. Make a sensory description of your present situation, and of your resources. This description will hopefully motivate you away from your present state, towards your future. Find out which additional resources you will need, and how to get them.

Other aspects. The strategy is the choice, and the order of the steps necessary to bring you to the outcome. The strategy may contain the other elements mentioned in the model, like obtaining knowledge of finding other resources, how you use and give priority to your time etc.

Your beliefs, your identity and your spiritual dimension are factors which can help you or slow you down on your way. In the process, some of these factors will probably change.

You will find plenty of obstacles, like the family- or job situation, lack of money, lack of time etc. The obstacles might also be found in your mind, like incongruence (conflicting interests) or lack of stamina. Make a strategy of dealing with these obstacles as part of your main strategy.

It might be wise to set a date when to reach your outcome, otherwise things will have a tendency to be postponed.
